BRNO-CITY DISTRICT, SOUTH MORAVIAN REGION, JUL 18 – Marc Marquez overcame wet conditions and technical issues to top Friday practice at Brno while Jorge Martin returned from injury to secure a direct Q2 spot in fifth place.
- On Friday at the Automotodrom Brno, Marc Marquez dominated Practice by topping Free Practice One and Practice sessions.
- Adverse weather conditions made for a difficult Friday afternoon Practice session, with a heavy downpour causing a 20-minute delay.
- Marquez overcame technical issues and a cancelled lap, he clocked 1min 54.606sec on a rainy Friday morning, coming within one hundredth of his 2016 lap record.
- Johann Zarco finished second, 0.469 seconds behind Marquez, with Fabio Quartararo securing third on the timesheets.
- Ahead of Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's race, he leads the world championship standings on 344 points after 11 of 22 races.
