Many types of lindens are sold locally and adapted to our climate
Locally sold cultivars like Boulevard and Greenspire are suited to northern yards and offer disease resistance, experts said.
Garden centers offer various Lindens well-adapted to Northern growing conditions, including American linden with Cultivars such as Boulevard, Harvest Gold, Redmond, and Greenspire available for local landscapes.
Lindens serve as essential additions to diverse tree populations, helping avoid overplanting single species while remaining largely free of disease and insect pests for Lawns and Boulevard plantings.
Lawns currently experiencing Dormancy from summer Weather require caution with Fertilizer; if grass shows green, fertilize around Labor Day, but withhold treatment if Lawns remain brown and crunchy.
Fall grass seeding opens from Aug 25 to Sept 15, and if seeding is delayed, grass can be "dormant seeded" by November, with seeds remaining protected until spring germination.
For specific gardening Questions, email Don Kinzler at NDSU Extension-Cass County; broadly appealing Questions with your name and location may be published to address local Dormancy challenges.
