The departments of the Alpes-Maritimes, the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Hautes-Alpes are all placed in orange alert for risk of avalanche by Météo-France, on Tuesday 27 January 2026 at 8 pm. If "many large avalanches" are expected at altitude, Météo-France does not rule out the risk of a phenomenon that would affect the valleys.
