Years-Long Colorado Manhunt Involving Child Rape Suspect Ends
Paul Sandoval was captured after a five-day multi-agency manhunt involving over 70 officers; he had evaded arrest for nearly four years while armed, officials said.
- On Sunday, U.S. Marshals and the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office arrested Paul Sandoval near Blanca Peak just before 10:30 a.m. after a five-day manhunt.
- Paul Sandoval was wanted for felony sexual assault of a child and other charges, the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office said.
- After late-August break-ins, investigators used surveillance devices and tips from residents near Lake Como Road, while intelligence showed Sandoval was armed with a rifle in the rugged Sangre De Cristo mountains.
- Sandoval is being held at the Alamosa County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment early Monday afternoon, and Alamosa County Sheriff Robert Jackson thanked the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance.
