Manhunt for convicted child rapist who escaped from staff while on leave
Police Scotland said the restricted patient, convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl, was last seen in Perth city centre on Thursday.
Police Scotland launched a manhunt on Thursday after Cliff Lyons Dobbie, a restricted patient and convicted child rapist, absconded from his escort in Perth city centre.
Dobbie has been detained in secure units including State Hospital Carstairs since 1990, following his conviction for raping a 10-year-old girl in Glasgow while on bail for abusing a 12-year-old boy.
Described as 5ft 3in tall with a stocky build, Dobbie is bald with blue eyes and a distinctive squint. He has tiger-eye tattoos on his right arm and a blue and red Rangers tattoo on his left.
Inspector Kris McCall urged the public not to approach Dobbie and asked anyone with information to contact Police Scotland via 999 or 101, citing incident number 20260806–1696.
NHS Tayside is working with police to trace the patient, who speaks with a strong Glaswegian accent and has links to Glasgow and surrounding areas.
