Mohammed Fahir Amaaz jailed after assaulting two female police officers at Manchester Airport
CCTV shown to jurors captured 10 punches, two elbow strikes and a kick as Mohammed Fahir Amaaz was convicted on several assault counts.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for assaulting two female police officers, PC Ellie Cook and PC Lydia Ward, and a member of the public at Manchester Airport.
The violent incident occurred on July 23, 2024, after Amaaz confronted Abdulkareem Ismaeil at a Starbucks terminal; his brother Muhammad Amaad was present after both picked up their mother from a flight.
Judge Neil Flewitt criticized Amaaz's "total lack of remorse," noting CCTV evidence captured him throwing 10 punches, two "elbow strikes," and one kick during the assault.
Chief Constable Sir Stephen Watson QPM condemned the incident, stating that officers were met with "resistance and violence," while noting 35 officers are assaulted weekly across Greater Manchester.
While the criminal trial has concluded, the Independent Office for Police Conduct continues an ongoing investigation into the conduct of officers involved in the incident.
