Paedophile who used AI to undress children was bailed to flat overlooking playground

- Dogan, an Enfield mechanic, secretly took more than 5,000 photos from his bedroom window overlooking a playground, then used AI to digitally alter images of two children aged seven and 13 into explicit material.
- Judge Alexander Jacobs described Dogan as a "Jekyll and Hyde" character during sentencing, while mothers of victims expressed feeling "punched in the gut" and "helpless" upon learning their children were targeted.
- Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley criticized the justice system's "unfathomable decisions" to grant Dogan bail three times, forcing one victim's family to move to temporary accommodation to escape the offender.
- Sir Mark warned that "innovation cannot come at the expense of public safety" regarding AI technology, as police continue forensic trawls of seized devices to identify further victims still unknown to investigators.
