Man Performs 'Tantrik' Ritual with Chief Justice's Photo to Secure Kin's Bail in Chhattisgarh
Police say a man used ritual items and photographs, including one of the chief justice, to try to help a relative win bail in a stabbing case.
- On Friday night, villagers in Devri village, Bilaspur, caught Rishikesh Kumar performing a 'tantrik' ritual at a cremation ground to secure bail for his relative, Priyanshu Bole, arrested in a stabbing case.
- Kumar used photographs of Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha, the victim, and Bole during the ritual; police recovered ritual items including fish, lemons, and vermilion from the site.
- After noticing suspicious activity, villagers confronted four men at the cremation ground under Sipat police station limits. While three suspects fled, Kumar was apprehended and handed over to Bilaspur Police.
- Kumar told police the group attempted the ritual after watching a video claiming it could influence bail decisions. Three other suspects in the stabbing case had been granted bail, while Bole remained in custody.
- Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh warned, "Bail cannot be obtained by performing any ritual. Criminals should reform themselves." Police investigations into the incident are underway.
