MUMBAI-KOLKATA FLIGHT, AUG 1 – The pilot removed a passenger for assaulting another who had a panic attack, with the offender handed over to authorities after the Mumbai-Kolkata flight incident.
- During boarding of flight 6E138, a passenger experienced a panic attack and was assaulted by a fellow traveller on Friday, August 1, 2025.
- Shortly after boarding, the passenger reported discomfort possibly due to a panic attack and requested to deboard, before takeoff.
- A flight attendant intervened promptly, asking `Sir, please don't do this`, while a bystander passenger asked `Why did you hit him?`
- Upon landing, law enforcement agencies at Kolkata airport took custody of the offender, who was identified as unruly and handed over to security authorities, following the pilot's request.
- Regulatory agencies have been informed and further action is expected under aviation rules, following DGCA rules that can impose up to a two-year ban for life-threatening behaviour.
