The Maribor court imposed the maximum prison sentence on the man for the crimes.
The Maribor District Court has sentenced a man accused of four criminal offenses of sexual assault on a person under the age of 15 and three criminal offenses of displaying, producing, possessing and transmitting pornographic material to 30 years in prison, the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office announced today. They added that the verdict is not yet final.
Vesna Lovrec writes in her commentary Razgaljena družba about the prison sentence handed down to a man for sexual abuse of minors. She points out that he had already served a sentence for sexual assaults on children and returned to the same environment. By opening the verdict to the public, the judge has exposed the actions of the accused and the collective reflex of society in the face of such acts, she adds.
