Man sentenced for deadly stabbing in Whistler, B.C.

WHISTLER VILLAGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA, JUL 11 – Dedaar Jhooty was sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the stabbing death of Henry Molina following a verbal altercation, with investigators citing extensive video evidence.

  • In Whistler, a B.C. Supreme Court judge sentenced Dedaar Jhooty to three and a half years, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said, for the 2021 stabbing death of Henry Stanley Garcia Molina.
  • On July 16, 2024, Dedaar Jhooty pleaded guilty, closing nearly four years of investigative and court proceedings from a late-night Whistler Village stabbing.
  • Shortly after 2 a.m. on Aug. 14, 2021, investigators say, IHIT, working with local RCMP and BC Coroners Service, collected extensive video footage.
  • The sentencing, imposed July 8, includes a court-ordered DNA submission and a lifetime firearms prohibition.
  • Recalling Molina, Sgt. Freda Fong said, `Mr. García Molina had his whole life ahead of him, which was taken away due to a senseless act of violence,` adding that `our thoughts continue to be with his family as the court proceedings come to a conclusion.
