Man who stabbed Megan Hughes 27 times in fatal attack jailed for murder

CHIRNSIDE, SCOTTISH BORDERS, SCOTLAND, JUL 24 – Corey Dryden was sentenced to life with a minimum of 18 years for fatally stabbing Megan Hughes 27 times in a sustained domestic attack, a judge said the crime caused terrible devastation.

  • On Thursday Dryden received a life sentence with at least 18 years, and Lord Harrower said `the only sentence for the crime of murder is life imprisonment`.
  • According to Moira Orr, Crown Office homicide lead, Dryden is a violent and dangerous man who murdered Megan Hughes in her home, where she had the right to be safe.
