Man injured after being shot from another car near Prince Edward Highway
Police say the victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and investigators do not believe the shooting was linked to extortion threats.
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, a man suffered serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wounds while sitting in his vehicle outside a home in the 14500 block of 75 Avenue in Newton.
Responding officers provided emergency medical aid upon arrival until BCEHS paramedics arrived and transported the victim to hospital with the reported serious injuries.
SPS Project Assurance team members, who were patrolling the area, located a suspect vehicle shortly after the incident and arrested one adult male without incident, Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said.
The Major Crime Unit has launched an investigation into the shooting, which police believe was targeted but not linked to ongoing extortion threats in the city.
Investigators are asking witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to contact the Surrey Police Service non-emergency line at 604-599-0502.
