ATV Driver Leads Sheriff's Deputy on Short Pursuit, Later Found Dead in Wooded Area
Authorities say the cause of death remains under investigation after deputies found Michael J. Azure unresponsive and unable to be revived.
- On Friday, May 8, Michael James Azure, 47, of White Earth died after a short ATV pursuit with a Becker County Deputy. Authorities found him unresponsive in a wooded area south of White Earth.
- A Becker County Deputy attempted to stop the ATV near County Highway 34 and 21 around 2:11 p.m. after recognizing Azure and knowing his driving privileges were "canceled inimical to public safety."
- After the ATV turned onto a gravel trail, the Becker County Deputy terminated the pursuit and lost sight of the vehicle. At 2:25 p.m., Deputies discovered the abandoned ATV in a field south of White Earth.
- Deputies attempted life-saving measures upon finding Azure unresponsive, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains were transported to The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
