- Social media videos captured the black Tesla crashed into a tree while the incident unfolded near Granville Street during the Canada-Qatar World Cup match with fans nearby.
- The driver, a man in his 30s, sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital before being released; the VPD said "numerous charges will be recommended."
- Following his release on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date, The Vancouver Police Department noted the investigation remains ongoing with Crown review pending.
