Man fighting for life after serious attack sees 37-year-old arrested
On Friday, July 24, a 57-year-old man sustained serious head injuries during an assault on St Paul's Road in Hartlepool and remains in critical condition at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Cleveland Police confirmed a 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault was interviewed and released on bail with conditions whilst enquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector John Bonner and the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading the investigation while specialist officers support the victim's family during this difficult time.
Motorists who were in the St Paul's Road area on July 24 are urged to share dash-cam footage, as DCI Bonner seeks mobile phone video or images to assist enquiries.
