  • Two separate fatal hit-and-run collisions occurred early Saturday in New York, leaving two men dead in The Bronx and Hell's Kitchen within two hours of each other.
  • In The Bronx, an unidentified man fell unconscious after a physical altercation near College Avenue and East 166th Street around 3:47 a.m., then was struck by a white BMW SUV traveling eastbound.
  • About 10 minutes later, an NYPD Strategic Response Group SUV also struck the man as he remained in the roadway at approximately 12 mph; officers rendered aid before he was taken to Lincoln Hospital.
  • Hell's Kitchen residents expressed concern about local road safety following the separate USPS truck collision. Jim Marte said, "I mean anyone who hits someone and doesn't take care of it, it's really pretty awful."
  • As of Friday, 53 pedestrians have been killed by vehicles on city streets, 13 fewer than last year, though New York Police Department vehicles have been involved in other collisions in recent years.
