Postman jailed for 23 years for murdering and beheading girlfriend

EAST KILBRIDE, SOUTH LANARKSHIRE, JUL 14 – Ewan Methven stabbed and strangled Phoenix Spencer-Horn 20 times, then mutilated her body and deceived her family while abusing drugs, prosecutors said.

  • On Monday at the High Court in Glasgow, Ewan Methven received a minimum 23-year prison term.
  • In November 2024 in their Glen Lee flat in East Kilbride, Ewan Methven murdered Phoenix Spencer-Horn and pretended she was alive.
  • Using three knives, Methven attacked Spencer-Horn with 20 stab wounds, strangled her then decapitated and tried to dismember her.
  • During sentencing, Judge Lord Matthews said he had “rarely heard such outpourings of grief” and described Methven’s actions as a “truly dreadful crime.”
