LEICESTERSHIRE, AUG 2 – Jon Ruben, 76, faces three counts of wilful ill treatment after allegedly poisoning three boys at a Christian summer camp, with all nine hospitalized individuals now discharged.
- On Friday, August 1, Jon Ruben, 76, was charged with three counts of wilful ill treatment of a child relating to three boys at Stathern Lodge.
- On Sunday, July 27, authorities say eight children aged between eight and 11 and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge, a residential activity centre on Canal Lane, Stathern, in Leicestershire.
- Neighbours described seeing parents arriving in panic amid sirens as East Midlands Ambulance Service set up a triage centre in Plungar and took the children and one adult to hospital.
- At Leicester Magistrates' Court, Ruben is due to appear on Saturday, August 2, after the nine people taken to hospital on Sunday have been discharged.
- Assistant Chief Constable Leona Scurr said Nottinghamshire Police is working with Leicestershire Police, and anyone with information can contact the dedicated online portal.
