Man Drops Engagement Ring From 118-Foot Bridge During Proposal
A Boyne Mountain snowmaking supervisor used a metal detector to recover an engagement ring dropped 118 feet through the SkyBridge grate, reuniting the couple before departure.
- Last month, Trevor Van Camp proposed to Danielle Jenkins on the SkyBridge at Boyne Mountain Resort, Boyne Falls, Michigan, but dropped the ring, which fell 118 feet into the snow.
- Because Jenkins wanted to visit the SkyBridge, Van Camp arranged a surprise weekend trip to Boyne Mountain Resort last month, where they took a chairlift and walked across before he proposed.
- Staff and the couple searched with metal detectors for two and a half hours before pausing, but night-shift snowmaking supervisor Pat Harper continued overnight and recovered the ring after his detector signaled.
- The next morning, Pat Harper told the couple the ring had been found and is now back on Danielle Jenkins' finger; the Boyne Mountain Resort Instagram post shared on Monday, January 5, has more than 46,000 views.
- Kari Roder, director of marketing at Boyne Mountain Resort, said, `Well, we have this term we say here, we make it right, right. We're always trying to make it right for a guest and all of our team members are empowered to make it right for a guest and I think, you know, such a special scenario, given the circumstances, and Pat had the tools to make it right.
