Mounties in the Northwest Territories say a man is dead after trying to skip a snowmobile across the water.

RCMP said in a news release that two people were trying to skip a snowmobile across the water near Reindeer Point on Wednesday when the machine sank. One person was able to swim to shore uninjured.
