Man dead, suspect at large after shooting in Abbotsford, B.C.
A 69-year-old homeless encampment resident died after a targeted shooting at Whatcom Road Park and Ride, with no arrests made, police said.
- On Monday shortly after 11 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a shooting at a park-and-ride lot off Whatcom Road, where a 69-year-old resident of the encampment sustained fatal injuries.
- The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has assumed control of the investigation, treating the incident as targeted though authorities say it is unrelated to gang activity or extortion.
- Arriving officers discovered the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries; he was transported to hospital but did not survive. IHIT has not released his identity as family notifications remain underway.
- As of Tuesday morning, investigators have made no arrests in connection with the fatal shooting, while the investigation into the circumstances continues in the Fraser Valley.
