Man convicted in Boston toddler’s murder granted parole after 50 years in prison

A 71-year-old man who was convicted of killing his girlfriend’s toddler in Boston in 1974 has been granted parole after serving 50 years in prison. Edward Starling was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 1-year-old Laquita Prout on Dec. 16, 1976. A Suffolk Superior Court judge sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
