Man charged with murder after body found at stone circle following summer solstice
Police say the 23-year-old also faces attempted murder and weapon charges after a separate assault in Chesterfield.
On Monday, June 29, 23-year-old Szymon Babynko appeared at Derby Magistrates Court charged with murdering 26-year-old Isaac Clare-Watts at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees on June 22.
Emergency services discovered Clare-Watts's body at the Bronze Age site on June 22 following a summer solstice celebration, prompting a major investigation by Derbyshire Police.
Authorities arrested Babynko on Thursday, June 25, in London; he also faces attempted murder and offensive weapon charges regarding a separate incident in Hady Lane, Chesterfield, that same day.
Detective Inspector Tony Owen of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit is urgently appealing for witnesses and video footage from the solstice event to build a clear investigative picture.
District Judge Jonathan Taaffe remanded Babynko into custody during Monday's hearing, scheduling his next appearance at Derby Crown Court for Wednesday, July 1, while a separate 41-year-old suspect remains on bail.
