Man charged in Fond du Lac axe attack
- Hayden Lyle Daffinson, a 34-year-old Ripon man, is charged with attacking a Fond du Lac woman with a hatchet on June 22, 2025.
- The attack followed the victim’s decision to end their several-month relationship and allow Daffinson to pick up belongings that day.
- Daffinson struck the victim about 30 times, sexually assaulted her, threatened to kill her, and fled before being arrested after a brief chase in Germantown.
- The victim told police, "He was trying to kill me," and Daffinson warned, "I'm going to kill you if you do," while bond was set at $5 million.
- Daffinson is facing eight criminal counts related to the attack, among them an attempted first-degree intentional homicide charge, with a potential prison sentence of up to 190 years; his next court appearance is set for July 31.
