Man Allegedly Rams Ute Into Police Station
Police say the 67-year-old failed to stop, returned and drove at officers before crashing into the station, leaving one patient with minor grazes.
On Friday, a 67-year-old man was arrested after allegedly driving his ute at officers on Market Street, Mudgee, before crashing into the Mudgee Police Station.
Officers were gathered outside the station to honor Detective Senior Constable Scott Whale, who is retiring after 40 years in the NSW Police Force, when the incident unfolded.
Witness Michael, who was clipped by the ute, told 7NEWS, "I've only got a little bit of a scratch," while NSW Ambulance Media assessed one patient with minor grazes.
Officers from the Orana Mid Western Police District are investigating the crash, which caused structural damage to the building; Police Media confirmed contingency plans are in place.
The man remains in police custody as investigations into the incident's motive continue, and authorities confirmed the suspect is well known to police.
