Man accused of 'sexually explicit communications' with child is Cazenovia school board VP, pride fest founder
Police say Travis J. Longo, 46, faces four misdemeanor counts after allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to a child under 12.
On June 18, the New York State Police charged Cazenovia School Board Vice President Travis Longo with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child after he reportedly engaged in sexually explicit communication with a child under 12.
Longo was elected to the Cazenovia School District Board of Education in 2024 with a term extending through June 2027; following the charges, Cazenovia Pride Inc. announced it is "cancelling this year's Pride Festival and all associated events" and dissolving.
Superintendent Kevin Linck stated The District became aware of the arrest on June 19 and clarified Longo is not an employee; he is prohibited from entering school grounds or attending district-sponsored events.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims contacted by Longo and requested information referencing case number NY2600762245, while The Madison County District Attorney Robert Mascari noted public office carries a "heightened expectation of trust."
Retaining legal counsel, The District is reviewing the matter to determine appropriate immediate steps, though officials stated they are strictly limited in the details they can share publicly regarding the ongoing administrative and legal matter.
