Man accused of murdering Shanice Brookes outside Sheffield bar avoids court due to 'mental health'
Prosecutors say Jemele Rhone fired the fatal shot and Deiryen Dyce helped after the shooting, while both defendants remain in custody.
On Friday, Jemele Rhone, 30, and co-defendant Deiryen Dyce, 32, faced Sheffield Magistrates' Court regarding the murder of Shanice Brookes; Rhone did not appear due to his "mental health," while Dyce appeared in custody.
Brookes died after being shot outside the One Four One bar in Sheffield early Bank Holiday Monday, with police describing the victim as an "entirely innocent bystander."
Prosecutors allege Rhone possessed a handgun and £10,000 in criminal property; Dyce faces charges including possession of ammunition and £2,000 in criminal property, with ammunition linked to cartridges found at the scene.
Both defendants will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on June 1, while Sheffield College principal Angela Foulkes remembered Brookes as an "exceptional student and talented visual creative."
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles stated the investigation priority remains providing answers for the family, while officers continue appealing for information regarding the mother who "generously volunteered her time.
