Man, 36, Charged with First-Degree Murder in Woman's Death in Welland, Ont.
Police say the investigation is isolated and no ongoing public safety risk has been identified.
Niagara Regional Police charged a 36-year-old Welland man with first-degree murder after officers discovered a woman dead inside a home Thursday near Prince Charles Drive and Thorold Road.
A man found at the residence was arrested immediately, and the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit assumed the investigation with assistance from Welland and Pelham detectives.
Detectives believe this was an isolated incident with no evidence of ongoing risk to public safety, according to The Canadian Press report published Friday, May 8, 2026.
The accused remains in custody and was scheduled to attend a bail hearing in St. Catharines on Friday, facing the first-degree murder charge.
