The narrowing of the civic space in Mali, characterized by enforced disappearances and detentions of opponents, journalists and civil society actors on political grounds, raises the concerns of the human rights NGO Human Rights Wath (HRW), which calls on the African Union, which is holding its annual summit this weekend in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to act with the Bamako authorities to put an end to this situation.
