The Senegalese army and security forces began to strengthen their presence in Senegalese villages bordering Mali, following attacks by Al-Qaida armed groups last Tuesday in Mali. According to private Radio RFM, security reinforcements from the Rapid Intervention Unit from the Senegalese National Gendarmerie and elements of the army arrived yesterday in the border villages to reassure the population, on the Senegalese side of the border.
