Study - Unlike in Scandinavia: Who Has Children, Does Not Live Automatically More Satisfied and Is Sometimes Even Dissatisfied

Parenthood for some people is associated with a lower level of life satisfaction - which is also due to the politics and culture of the respective country. This is one of the results of a representative study in 30 countries published by the Cologne sociologists Marita Jacob and Ansgar Hudde in the "Journal of Marriage and Family".

Parents are often less satisfied than the childless, but feel their lives are more meaningful. Women in particular feel the burden more strongly depending on the situation.

Having children can be exhausting - this can annoy parents and affect their life satisfaction. However, they also get something back, as a survey shows.
