Majority of Britons say government only protects free speech it agrees with
A survey commissioned by the human rights organisation Liberty and conducted by pollsters More in Common found 54 per cent of Britons believe the government only protects speech that it agrees with
The results of the survey also show growing concern that the protection of freedom of expression is applied differently to different people, with 29 per cent of respondents expressing this view, and 26 per cent of British respondents believe that certain groups of citizens can speak much more freely than others.
