Morrisons Introducing New '£13 Rule' over the Next Six Months - All You Need to Know
The deal follows a 91.87% staff vote and adds one-off payments of up to £175 for eligible hourly-paid workers.
Following negotiations with the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers , Morrisons agreed to increase shop assistant pay to £13 an hour, securing a 91.87 per cent vote in favor of the new structure.
Phased adjustments will move pay to £12.81 initially, followed by a rise to £13 on July 20, with a final adjustment to £13.11 from October 26.
Eligible hourly paid colleagues will also receive a one-off payment between £25 and £175, depending on contracted hours, following the April increase of the National Living Wage to £12.71 per hour.
This move aligns Morrisons with other major retailers including Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury, Marks, and Spencer, and Primark, who have adopted the "£13 rule."
Jodie Keating, group people director at Morrisons, said: "We're pleased that we can now implement the pay proposal and increase pay for our colleagues to reward them for the contribution they make to our business.
