Major Spanish airport to reopen after closing for a month with all flights cancelled
All flights were cancelled during the monthlong closure, which affected more than 3.6 million annual passengers, airport officials said.
After a month-long closure, Castro Airport is set to reopen on May 27, ending runway renovations that halted all air traffic since April 23.
This month-long closure forced the cancellation of all flights, significantly affecting thousands of Brits who typically travel through the Spanish Airport annually.
Around 30 flights operate weekly from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and Manchester, involving British Airways, Ryanair, and Vueling, serving more than 3.6 million annual travelers.
Travelers seeking alternatives during the closure have relied on Vigo Airport, located 100 km away, as the primary option for those visiting Spain.
Airlines advise passengers: "We recommend contacting your airline" regarding flight status, schedule changes, or possible rebooking as the facility prepares to resume operations next week.
