One of the most challenging road projects in the United Kingdom, the Heads of the Valleys Road, has officially opened following almost twenty years of upgrading work. The Heads of the Valleys Road, or the A465, joins the northernmost points of the southern valleys, from Lynedd to Abergavenny, along the southern border of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
