KUPANG: A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit the Southwest Sumba area of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia on Sunday causing damage to several residents' homes, synagogues, government offices and a school. Director of Seismology of the Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), Teguh Rahayu, said damage was reported in the Perokonda area, including an Islamic Primary School and dozens of homes.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake recently struck Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Twenty homes, religious facilities, schools, and public buildings were affected.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported a series of earthquakes rocked Indonesia, with a magnitude of 6.1 in Southwest Sumba and 5.9 in Aceh Jaya, with no tsunami potential.
