Magician leaves BGT judges speechless after revealing famous family secret on show
James Phelan impressed the judges with ring tricks, needle swallowing and a family reveal before earning four yeses to reach the semi-finals.
- On Saturday, April 11, magician James Phelan auditioned for Britain's Got Talent, revealing he is the nephew of the late TV presenter Paul Daniels, and advanced to the semi-finals with four yes votes.
- During the routine, Phelan made judge Amanda Holden's ring disappear and reappear, swallowed needles before pulling them from his mouth on a thread, and correctly guessed judge Alesha Dixon's favorite color.
- Social media users praised the act, with one fan writing, "I'm sure his uncle Paul is looking down with the biggest smile on his face!" and @Matt528chap calling it "a danger act and a magician combined."
- With two weeks remaining until the live semi-finals, Phelan joins thousands of contestants vying for the £250,000 prize and the opportunity to perform before the Royal Family.
- The series continues Saturday, April 18 at 7pm on ITV1, featuring other advancing acts including breast clinic nurse Joan Thomas, who sang Pie Jesu, and youth worker Ren DMC, who performed a diss track targeting the judges.
