The new Prime Minister of Hungary, Péter Magyar, used his first speech after the oath to request the resignation of President Tamás Sulyok, granting him and other senior officials the deadline of 31 May to withdraw.
During the presentation, Madyar also apologized for the actions of the previous Government, in particular for the lack of proper investigation into attacks against journalists and civil society representatives.
