Madhya Pradesh: Houses of 3 accused in Banda liquor tragedy demolished
- Following his return from Dubai, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited Sagar district on Wednesday to review the spurious liquor tragedy and ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident.
- The death toll in Banda tehsil reached 15 on Tuesday after two more victims succumbed during treatment, while nearly 40 people remain hospitalized with three in critical condition.
- Police have arrested 14 of the 30 accused involved in the bootlegging network, while three excise officers and two policemen have been suspended in connection with the incident.
- Yadav appointed senior IAS officer Dilip Kumar to lead the Sagar division and senior IPS officer Irshad Wali as Inspector General of the Sagar range to strengthen administrative oversight.
- Addressing accountability, Yadav reiterated that 'negligence or irregularities in serious cases will not be tolerated at any level,' ensuring the inquiry assigns responsibility for the tragedy.
