Four-Storey Building Collapses in Anuppur District of Madhya Pradesh; at Least Six People Feared Trapped: Police.
Rescue teams have pulled out 3 people alive as police say 5 to 6 others may still be trapped under the rubble.
- On Saturday, a four-storey building known as Aggarwal Lodge collapsed in Kotma, Anuppur district, leaving one person dead and 7-10 others trapped in the debris. The structure came down at 5.30 pm with a loud explosion-like sound.
- Preliminary reports indicate the lodge was approximately 10 years old and in a dilapidated condition. Construction activity was also being carried out on an adjacent plot at the time of the collapse.
- Rescue teams from Kotma Municipality, SECL, and JMS acted swiftly following the incident. Three civilians have been rescued and safely evacuated, while authorities continue searching for others trapped under the rubble.
- Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident, directing officials to rush to the site and ensure relief and treatment. Kotma and Anuppur district hospitals have been placed on high alert.
- The NDRF has been dispatched to the scene to bolster search efforts as rescue operations continue on a war footing. The administration has appealed to the public to stay away from the site to avoid hindering ongoing rescue work.
