French President Emmanuel Macron today called on the G7 group of seven major economies to take immediate action to restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz after the war in the Middle East caused a traffic jam in this important shipping route, the French news agency AFP reported.
The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has stated that "he has no confirmation from the partner services or our own intelligence services" of Iran's use of naval mines in the Strait of Ormuz, and has pointed out in this regard that this "would be a difficult decision" for Tehran, statements he has issued at the end of a meeting with G7 leaders in a video broadcast by the Eliseo on social networks.
Emmanuel Macron presided this Wednesday over a new meeting of the G7, after which he acknowledged to the press that "the conditions are not fulfilled" to deploy a military mission that guarantees maritime trade in the Strait of Ormuz, which he described as "a war zone."
