Advocates say overdose prevention centers can save lives
NORTHAMPTON — “One day, I got super desperate to smoke, I was smoking crack (cocaine) then, but I would grab anything when I got like that and put it in my pipe. That’s what it was like that day. I put it in and the next thing you know, I was gone. They gave me two Narcan and they were getting ready to give me a third one when they pronounced me dead. But I came back. That was pretty bad.”
Machines dispense lifesaving medicine
Three vending machines that dispense free Narcan are now available to the public, courtesy of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Given the positive reception the machines have had, there are plans to place two additional Narcan machines in the community with the goal of raising awareness and saving lives.
