Brazil's president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said that supporting the neutrality of the interoceanic canal "is defending international trade based on multilateral rules."
The President of the Republic said that the channel is a reference to climate governance, with innovative initiatives such as the quota for vessels using sustainable fuels.

Brazil's president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, defended this Wednesday, during a visit to Panama, the sovereignty of this country over the interoceanic canal, questioned in the past by US president Donald Trump.Since assuming his presidential mandate, more than a year ago, Trump undertook a diplomatic offensive of pressure against Panama, considering that China controls the maritime route through two ports in concession to a Hong Kong company.
