Lucid Air Can Now Charge at Tesla Superchargers, But at Laughably Slow Speeds
NORTH AMERICA, JUL 23 – Lucid Air owners can use Tesla Superchargers in North America with a $220 adapter, but charging speed is capped at 50 kW, providing up to 200 miles of range per hour.
- Beginning July 31, 2025, all Lucid Air vehicles will tap into Tesla’s charging network, with a Lucid-approved adapter, enabling access to over 23,500 stalls across North America.
- In 2022, Tesla shared its connector design to encourage NACS adoption, but Lucid's deal was among the last after Ford and others, so the Air still uses CCS and requires a $220 adapter to access Tesla Superchargers, capped at 50 kW.
- The DC NACS to CCS1 adapter costs $220 US excluding taxes, enabling Lucid Air to charge at up to 50 kW and providing access to over 23,500 Supercharger stalls across North America.
- However, Emad Dlala said, while charging speeds are capped at 50 kW, significantly slower than Tesla’s 250 kW peak rate.
- Future models will benefit from direct Supercharger integration, as Lucid plans to phase NACS ports into its Gravity SUV, offering better flexibility for drivers.
