Louisiana's kratom ban takes effect next week

Ever since the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) tried in 2016 to classify kratom as a dangerous Schedule 1 drug, states have been on their own. That’s because the Obama DEA backed off when there was a public backlash. Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.
