Gabriel Pec Scores Two Late Goals to Rally Galaxy to 2-1 Victory over Atlanta United
Pec’s first two goals of the season extended the Galaxy’s scoring streak to 21 matches and lifted them to their first win in Atlanta.
On Saturday night, Gabriel Pec scored two goals in the second half to rally the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United, securing the Galaxy's first win in Atlanta.
After a scoreless first half, midfielder Jay Fortune subbed in during the 60th minute and scored unassisted in the 69th to give Atlanta United the lead, following yellow cards for defenders Stian Gregersen and Juan Berrocal plus midfielder Cooper Sanchez.
Pec tied the match in the 74th minute with assists from midfielder Marco Reus and forward Joseph Paintsil, then scored unassisted for the lead in the 79th for his first two goals of the season.
Extending their league-leading scoring streak to 21 consecutive matches, the Galaxy improved to 3-1-2 in their last six outings, while Atlanta United's three-match winning streak ended with a record of 3-8-1.
Los Angeles visits Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday to begin three straight road matches, while Atlanta United will look to rebound when visiting Orlando City on Saturday.
