Looking Back: The Cowan House at 1830 Cherry Street - The Vicksburg Post

This column was submitted by Nancy Bell of the Vicksburg Historic Foundation.  Cowan House– Built prior to the Civil War, this house at 1830 Cherry Street was the home of brothers Warren and James J. Cowan. The house was used as a signal corps station by the Union Army following the siege. According to John Beauregard Cowan, son of J.J. Cowan, he was born in the house in 1860.
