London Tube strike dates announced by union
RMT opposes TfL's voluntary four-day week plan fearing longer shifts increase fatigue and safety risks; 91% of voting members backed the six strike days starting March 24.
- Six 24-hour Tube strikes are scheduled for 24–25 March, 26–27 March, 21–22 April, 23–24 April, 19–20 May, and 21–22 May, starting midday on Tuesday March 24, according to the RMT union.
- The dispute centres on TfL's four-day week proposal, with RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey saying, "Despite our best efforts over many months, no satisfactory outcome has been reached so we have no choice but to call strike dates."
- Ballot returns show 1,082 voted yes, 101 voted no, out of 1,801 entitled to vote, with about 60 backing strike action among 3,600 Tube drivers and 10,400 RMT members.
- Transport for London warns that the strike could disrupt night buses N8, N25, N205, and routes 8, 25, 205, 425, affecting over 30,000 fans attending the March 24 match at the Emirates stadium.
- Aslef says its members support the four-day week pilot and will keep working during RMT strikes, while a separate Stagecoach strike from March 19–22 adds to transport disruption.
