Cornish Company Rescues Newquay to London Flights
Skybus will operate daily flights initially, increasing to twice-daily on weekdays from February 14, 2026, under a short-term Public Service Obligation contract.
- On November 23 Skybus will operate the Newquay to London Gatwick route on a short-term Public Service Obligation contract awarded by Cornwall Council, with tickets on sale Friday, November 7.
- After Eastern Airways announced it was on the brink of entering administration last month, Cornwall Council began a process to find a long-term replacement and cover interim operations.
- ISSC said Skybus will operate a 40-seat ATR72 sourced from Jersey-based Blue Islands, with Newquay-based crew under Aurigny Air Services.
- With uncertainty easing, Councillor Leigh Frost, leader of Cornwall Council, said he was relieved the deal ends uncertainty for passengers who had already booked flights and supports business and tourism sectors in Cornwall.
